Obituary of Mayra T. Olafson

Mayra T. Olafson, of New Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully on December 14, 2018.  Mayra was born on June 6, 1949 in Havana, Cuba.  At the age of 12, Mayra moved to the United States with her parents, Angel and Ana Tejera, and her sister Anita.  They settled in Rochester, NY. 

Mayra is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dale J Olafson, Sr. She is also survived by her children: Dale Olafson, Jr, David Olafson, Jacqueline Triozzi, and Wendy Olafson; her grandchildren: Jessica, Alexandria, Erik, Luke, Sierra, Emily, Hayden, and Liliana; her niece, Annie, and her nephews: John, George, and Charlie. 

Mayra worked at a number of jobs in the Danbury area, including Grolier and Macy’s.  She attended the New Fairfield Congregational Church for many years.  Later in life, she enjoyed spending time at the New Fairfield Senior Center.

Mayra enjoyed making custom jewelry, dancing, horseback riding, and travelling with her family.  Some of her favorite memories were a trip to Europe, and a cruise in the Bahamas.  She was best known for being a kind and gentle a soul and will be missed.

A memorial service will be performed at the New Fairfield Congregational Church on Thursday, Dec 20, at 3pm.
