I just learned that Mrs.Hettrich died earlier this year, and I am so very sorry for your loss! I remember vividly the book store at the “Ball Block” in East Aurora. I remember buying a very special book there that I still own to this day—a guide to northeastern wild flowers. And I remember her warm demeanor throughout our high school years. I also still have (and occasionally use) the ginger snap cookie recipe she shared; 1952 McCalls? ; - ). Wishing the whole family much love, peace and comfort through your grief.

Dolly was a wonderful friend and personal counselor. Although I have not been in contact with her for over 30 years, I have often thought of her influence on my young adult life. I met her through my own love of books. Her bookstore was a treat, a haven, and a retreat. My condolences to her kids. Your mom was a great person.

What a wonderful picture of Dolly with that infectious smile. Interring her ashes in Beamsville is perfect! She made such valiant efforts to attend family celebrations in Canada. Her indomitable spirit will be a great loss to your family. Remember the special moments. My deepest sympathies to all of you.

Dolly was my dear friend for more than 25 years. We met at work selling books, I was always blown away by how many books she read and the variety of her interests. History, politics, cooking, gardening, were some of her favorites. She had a curiosity about everything. She was a great storyteller and fabulously funny. She could talk about anything. She was the person I always wanted to call when I was excited about a book.
Most of all, she loved her children and was so proud of them. She was warm and kind and I will miss her friendship.
